Sun Chemical's Verigard security offering is a proprietary machine-readable covert taggant system used to protect some of the world’s most recognized consumer products from counterfeiting and diversion. Verigard is Sun’s highest level security system and authenticity is ensured by using the V400 handheld reader. The system offers a “lock and key” approach to verifying authenticity and is available only from Sun Chemical Security.

Verigard works by tuning the hand-held V400 reader to search for and correctly identify a unique signal from fluorescing taggants that have been mixed into standard inks, varnishes, coatings and adhesives. Authenticity is easily determined by viewing “Authentic” on the customizable LCD screen that can be programmed in any language. Sun Chemical designs, calibrates and services the V400 readers internally.

The V400 represents a new era in machine-readable ink detection. A complex algorithm looks for a collection of tightly controlled features before providing the user with a response - sophisticated technology providing end users with a straight-forward response.
